It was during her years living in Los Angeles that Lili discovered sport and the culture of an active lifestyle, centered on well-being and self-realization. With a daily practice of sport, she began looking for technical and high-performance clothing, but above all feminine. She then discovered “ Performance fashion ”, a new way of wearing sportswear and rediscovered in the purchase of her sportswear the pleasure of dressing, the one she found in the purchase of ready-to-wear. These technical, high-performance and feminine clothes accompany her in her active daily life. She calls them “Power suits”.
It is a frustration when, upon her return to France, she no longer finds the marks that accompanied her in her active daily life.
She then shares it with Lucile, her study friend who turns out to be particularly sensitive to the subject. During her travels, particularly in the United States, she is struck by the relationship that people have with their clothes, which seem to contribute to the freedom to be oneself. Far from the Parisian codes, everyone expresses themselves freely. She is convinced that comfortable and suitable clothes create that little extra self-confidence that allows everyone to be themselves.
“Beyond a common vision of sport and its importance in our lives, we share a philosophy: that with a good dose of determination, everything is possible. Above all, we wanted to create the platform that we wanted to find as consumers and are committed to offering women an alternative to sportswear and ready-to-wear clothing in order to break the compromise between functionality, comfort and style and above all to facilitate activity for everyone. This is how Spoade makes sense to us.”
The balance of mental & physical well-being
The name Spoade was chosen to represent the idea that the benefits of moving the body go beyond the physical dimension and also include a psychological dimension. Moving every day contributes to everyone's happiness. Each letter represents one of the hormones that contribute to happiness and that are also secreted during sports practice.
